A 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old have lost their lives after an accident along Kings Road near Naviveiwali in Wainibuka Tailevu this morning.
The teenagers were passengers in a car driven by a 30-year-old man while they were heading towards Suva at about 3am when the accident occurred.
According to police, the driver had allegedly fallen asleep and had lost control of the vehicle causing it to go off-road and into a nearby river.
Police say nearby villagers assisted in bringing the victims out from the vehicle and rushed them to the Korovou Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The driver remains under observation at the Korovou Hospital and will be questioned soon.
