5 cases of the total number of 14 people charged with a total of 35 counts of separate sexual offences in November, had accused persons who were related to the victims.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, a 58-year-old man has been charged with the rape and indecent assault of his 4-year-old and 7-year-old granddaughters while a 61-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 23-year-old grandniece.
A 41-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 7-year-old stepdaughter and an 8-year-old niece. The DPP’s Office says a 34-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 10-year-old cousin while a 36-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 41-year-old sister in law.
In November, there were 25 cases of rape, 3 cases of abduction with intent to have carnal knowledge, 1 case of attempt to commit rape, 1 case of indecent assault, 1 case of defilement and 4 cases of sexual assault.
There were 17 victims of whom 13 were under the age of 18 years.
It has also been revealed that there was one incident where a 24-year-old man was charged with attempt to commit rape and sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy. A 27-year-old man was charged with the rape and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl. The accused and the victim attended the same church.
In another incident, a 20-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 15-year-old girl. The accused and the victim were neighbours at the time of the incident. A 24-year-old and an 18-year-old man were charged with multiple counts of raping a 16-year-old girl while a 20-year-old man was charged with the rape of an 18-year-old woman.
A 27-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 40-year-old Australian woman, however, this matter was discontinued after the complainant returned to Australia and could not be contacted.
