13-year-old Ratu Simione Rarasea is turning heads on the rugby field in NZ and has attracted a few scholarships from some of NZ’s best schools known for producing some of the world’s renowned rugby players.
The former Marist Brothers Primary School student moved to NZ this year after he was scouted by Te Puke Primary School and has made a promise to his mum to give their family a better after the death of his father who was the only breadwinner in the family.
Rarasea did not waste any time and put on the work in NZ and was awarded the top-try scorer for his school in just his first year.
Rarasea is currently in the country discussing the offers he has received with his mum.
He told fijivillage news that he is willing to play for Fiji or the All Blacks if given the chance in the future.
The Narikoso, Kadavu boy plays outside centre and says after discussing with his mother, they have taken the offer from Rotorua Boys’ High School.
He is flying back to New Zealand in January next year after spending time with his family here in Fiji.
