13 students from Years 7 to 13 were found by police swimming in the Kalabu Waterfalls during school hours yesterday after concerns were raised by residents living near Kalabu Village.
They say students have been skipping school and have been found swimming and gathering at the location during and after school hours.
Divisional Police Commander South and Senior Superintendent of Police Wate Vocevoce says officers from the Nasinu Police Station conducted a patrol to the swimming spot yesterday.
SSP Vocevoce says this is a concern and pleads to parents and guardians to advise their children on the need to be in school during school hours and head straight home after school.
He says the operations team has come across similar worrying gatherings of children after conducting patrols within the Southern Division.
He adds that the operations team will continue to advise children to return home.
The Divisional Police Commander South is calling parents and guardians to support the protection and well-being of students.
