It was an early Christmas for 12 juveniles aged between 12 to 18 years old who are residents of the new Fiji Juvenile Rehabilitation and Development Centre in Samabula as they received gift packs from the Rotaract Club of Suva today.
Rotaract’s Community Service Director, Siteri Rogers said they also provided bed sheets, pillows and curtains for the centre worth $350.
Rogers said they are also providing counseling to the juveniles.
The Rotaract Club of Suva was established in 1972 and they have 30 members.
Director of Social Welfare, Rupeni Fatiaki said the centre provides holistic development learning for boys, giving them opportunities to practice their skills to become self‑reliant.
Meanwhile, $4.5 million was allocated by government for this year to ensure the facilitation of quality care and welfare of children who live in residential homes.
