12 evacuation centres are currently open in the western Division which is providing shelter to more than 300 evacuees from 55 households within the provinces of Nadroga and Ba.
This has been confirmed by the National Disaster Management Office which says some of the evacuation centres that were opened last night have been closed early this morning as families have safely returned home once flood water receded.
The NDMO says there have been no reports of any injury or casualty.
They say major flooding was recorded in the Western Division overnight mostly in Nadi, Ba and Rakiraki.
Meanwhile, Minister for Disaster Management, Sakiasii Ditoka says the Ministry with the NDMO is closely monitoring the adverse weather affecting the country.
He urges members to not be complacent in their preparation efforts as there has been another forecasted looming low-pressure system expected to affect the group from next week.
He also says that households need to be prepared accordingly.
