Twelve Regional Volunteer Teachers to the Republic of the Marshall Islands have returned to the Country after two years of service.
Speaking at the Talanoa Session today Public Service Commission Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said the teachers have set a high standard for the Retired Volunteer Teachers as good Ambassadors of Fiji.
Chand also said some of these retired teachers have already been offered teaching contracts to return to Marshall Islands High School.
Former Ballentine Principal Tokasa Vitayaki who was also part of the team said the teachers needed to be patient and tolerant because most of the students did not know how to speak in English let alone write a simple English sentence.
Vitayaki added that the first year was really tough for the teachers but because of the experience the teachers had, helped them to get use to the system of the school in Marshall Island.
The teachers namely Tokasa Vitayaki, Jagdish Prasad, Vila Masi, Ruci Uluilakeba , Rusila Racule, Panapasa Kubu, and Seremaia Tokalauvere to name a few also received Certificate of Service as a recognition of their work.
Meanwhile, another set of retired teachers will soon leave for the same Voluntary work under the Fiji Volunteer Service
