The 11th spot out of the 12 spots for the Olympics 7s 2024 will be up for grabs this weekend at the Oceania 7s Rugby Championship for both the men’s and women’s teams that will be participating in this tournament.
With the Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s team already earning their spot in the Paris Olympics, the Fijiana 7s side will hope to win this weekend’s Oceania 7s Rugby Championship to secure their spot.
If they miss out on winning this tournament, they will have to participate in the World Rugby Final Olympic Repechage Tournament that will be held after the 2023/2024 World Rugby Sevens Series.
The Oceania 7s will be held from this Friday to Sunday.
Fijiana will take on Cook Islands at 1.06pm, they will then play Tonga at 5.08pm on Friday, before playing the American Samoa in their final pool game at 2.18pm Saturday. Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s side will take on Niue at 2.56pm Friday before playing New Zealand at 7.42pm in their second pool game. They will then take on Oceania at 1.12pm Saturday and will wrap up their pool games against Australia at 4.52pm Saturday. The finals will be on Sunday.
