Eleven Police Officers have completed the two-day Fiji Police Partnership Programme Interviewing Workshop facilitated by the New Zealand Police in Suva.
While officiating at the closing of the two-day workshop, Director Training Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe thanked the New Zealand Police Senior Advisors for putting together the training package focused on improving two critical areas of policing namely training and investigations.
The senior New Zealand Police Advisors had designed the workshop to assist with the development of interviewing training for the Fiji Police Force.
The workshop was aimed at assisting officers to understand the concepts and design an interviewing training package that can then be delivered nationally and embedded into training at the Basic Recruit Courses in line with best international practice.
SSP Vusonilawe says the onus was on the participants, most of whom directly deal with training and investigation, to ensure continuity in the delivery of the training packages at the Fiji Police Academy and throughout the Divisions.
The training delivered by the senior New Zealand Police Advisors is part of the partnership program between the New Zealand Police and Fiji Police announced in 2020 focusing on combating transnational organised crime and enhancing investigative skills.
