The Fiji Sports Commission confirms that $10 million has been set aside for full maintenance of the Vodafone Arena later this year.

Fiji Sports Commission Chairman Peter Mazey says that facilities like the Vodafone Arena are expected to be fully upgraded every 13 years.

Mazey says thanks to government support, upgrades on the ANZ Stadium has been completed while maintenance on the FMF Gymnasium continues.

The Fiji Sports Council has also requested for more funds from the government in the 2017/2018 National Budget as Fiji prepares to host major international games next year.

Mazey says they are keeping their fingers crossed as they wait for tonight’s budget announcement.

Mazey says the government is interested in the idea of hosting games in Fiji.

The Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is expected announce the 2017-2018 National Budget at 7.30pm tonight.
