A $10 million X-ray machine is expected to be installed at the Suva Wharf by the Fiji Ports Authority to boost the current security measures which are in place.
Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Colonel Pio Tikoduadua said although it is very expensive, it is a requirement that needs to be met to comply with the international standards.
Colonel Tikoduadua said the machine will ease the work load on customs staff in terms monitoring items which pass in and out of Ports.
