A total of 101 screenings were conducted in Macuata to empower health through Pinktober Awareness Program including 41 breast examinations and 36 pap smears.
The Ministry of Health says this initiative not only raises awareness but also encourages women to take charge of their health and ensure they get themselves tested.
They say the medical team from the Macuata Subdivision conducted the breast examination and screening and recorded an impressive turnout.
Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Labasa Hospital, Viliame Nasila highlighted the critical importance of early cancer detection and treatment, as well as the necessity of regular pap smears.
Nasila says Labasa Health Centre nursing staff, along with intern nurses and students from the Sangam School of Nursing, held informative sessions on breast and cervical cancer.
He adds a lively Zumba session was also provided to all participants.
