1,000 workers from Fiji are being targeted for New Zealand's Recognised Seasonal Employer Scheme (RSE).
National Employment Centre Director Viliame Cagilaba said the NZ Recognised Seasonal Employer Scheme is still in the negotiation stage where 30 people will be identified to pilot the project.
Cagilaba said by July next year they are looking to have more than 1,000 workers under this program as Fiji's quota is 3,000.
He said they are targeting rural unemployed population for the Viti and Horti‑Culture Sector seasonal workers program.
Cagilaba said the selection criteria includes unemployed people registered with the National Employment Centre, police clearance, those living in the rural areas and an assurance that they will come back home after the completion of the program.
He added that people can visit one of the National Employment Centre Offices around Fiji to register.
