Ten social welfare recipients were the first in the Pacific to receive certificates for climate risk micro insurance today.
They are part of the trial project which aims to allow social welfare recipients to get cash relief only days after being affected by a natural disaster.
The cash payout is $400 and the premium is covered by donors of the project.
This project is a partnership between the UN World Food Programme, the UN Capital Development Fund and the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.
