The Director of Town and Country Planning has approved 10 major projects worth $82.6 million in the month of October.
Minister for Local Government and Community Development Premila Kumar says $22.2 million represents approvals granted for commercial development while $60.4 million is for special use projects such as business parks, service stations, hotel developments and apartments.
Kumar says in comparison, they approved $48.1 million worth of projects in September which is an increase of $38.1 million.
She says the pre-lodgement meeting is helping the developers and she is urging investors to meet with them to better understand what the requirements are.
Kumar says this will speed up the process which will create jobs for Fijians.
Kumar also highlighted that they received 73 new sub-division applications in October where 67 were approved.
She adds they received 34 re-zoning applications and approved 18.
