Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator Shamima Ali.

Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator Shamima Ali today shared her personal experience about domestic violence in her life as she spoke to Bank South Pacific Fiji executives about addressing gender-based violence and harassment in the workplace.

She says all staff everywhere need to go through gender sensitization.

Ali says we have to understand gender dynamics, why it is happening and it is not because of alcohol or women behaving badly.

She says organisations need to send very clear messages that it will not stand for perpetrators of gender-based violence and harassment.

Ali says there needs to be a very clear message in organisations that there is zero tolerance on this issue right from the top to the bottom.

She says there should always be necessary support available for victims in the workplace.

Ali shared that she was also a sunglass wife.

Bank South Pacific Fiji Group made a donation of $5,000 each to the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre and Lifeline Fiji today.
