The first ever Suva Cook-off 'Gourmet Street Food' was launched today in a bid to promote healthy eating by the Micro and Small Medium Enterprise Council of Fiji in association with the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation
MSME Council Chair, Watesoni Nata Jnr says the competition is a way to try and incorporate more local fruits and vegetables into the local street food around Fiji.
Nata Jnr says the competition is open to anyone that is involved in the preparation and selling of food that is not formally registered or could even be operating from home selling lunch packs.
He says food vendors, caterers, home businesses as long as they fall within the MSME category.
Suva Cook off 2024 Coordinator, Noelle Garard, says there is a lot of things that can be done around local produces as they want to highlight and empower people to use the resources available to them.
Tickets can be purchased for $30 and be a part of not only the festivities on September 27th but also be part of the judging.
The competition will be held at the Paradiso Restaurant grounds.
