Students should be encouraged to become job creators rather than job seekers when they leave school.
Marist Champagnat Institute Principal Mereoni Matanitobua highlighted this at the school’s Open Day which had the theme of “Empowering Fiji’s Youth for Local and Global Challenges.”
Matanitobua says their school includes students who use wheelchairs and those living with disabilities, yet they are still encouraged to contribute as job providers in the community.
Matanitobua says many students with disabilities are capable of performing tasks just as well as anyone else.
The principal says the school offers programs in engineering, carpentry, home economics, technology, and agriculture.
Matanitobua adds a total of 60 vocational students are enrolled this year.
