Stella Maris Primary School celebrated its 70th Jubilee with students, teachers, parents, and guardians coming in unison for a day filled with fun activities for the children.
There was a feast and games prepared to celebrate the enormous contribution the school has done in molding children to be future leaders of the country.
The day began with the celebration of mass at 9am followed by the cutting of the Jubilee cake and the entire school with the ex-scholars, parents, and guardians singing the Jubilee song to kick start the celebration.
Each class also performed during the celebration by showcasing various dances.
Pelasio Rageci, who has three daughters attending the school, says the celebration is the culmination of God's faithful journey for the last 70 years.
He says his daughters have been preparing for the activities and the program for the day.
Rageci says his daughter Dianne, who is in Year 7 was so amazed to be part of such a prestigious school that has served the country for the last 70 years.
It was a ray of colours and activities as students took part in outdoor activities organised by teachers and former students, who are parents of the school, while catching up with classmates they have not seen in years.
Former student and teacher Aborosio Dulunaqio says his granddaughters are in school at the moment and for him to be part of the celebration resonates so much with him the memory of the teaching of the Catholic faith.
He says he is glad that the school has kept the tradition with the current students.
Dulunaqio says coming from the village in Kadavu and learning about people of various ethnicities back in the days, especially Europeans that dominated the school, changed his life and gave him the confidence to do well in life.
He says he is indebted to the teaching and values the school taught him at a young age and hopes his granddaughters will adopt the learning and values of the school.
