South Africa’s unbeaten run in the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup came to an end after the Netherlands won by 38 runs this morning in India.
This is Netherlands' first win of the tournament and the first time they have beaten a test-playing nation at a 50-over World Cup.
While the South African batting effort was disappointing, it was the bowling performance at the end of the Netherlands' innings that started their demise.
The result is shocking however South Africa is still in a decent position to qualify for the knockouts as they won against Australia and Sri Lanka and will need to perform well against England on Saturday at 8.30pm.
Host India is currently leading the World Cup table with 6 points followed by New Zealand also with 6 points while South Africa is third with 4 points.
