As Hindus begin Krishna Janmashtami festivities today, the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji is urging all Mandalis and Mandirs to dedicate 10 to 15 minutes after each day's program to advocate against drug abuse.
They say the initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and foster a healthy and drug-free lifestyle within the community.
The Sabha says combining spiritual practice with social advocacy can guide the youths of Fiji towards a safer and brighter future.
They further say the Sanatan community and the public are invited to join in these meaningful celebrations and advocacy efforts.
This sacred week is a cornerstone event for the Hindu community, which is marked by daily prayers, kirtan, and bhajans dedicated to Lord Krishna in Mandalis and Mandirs across the country.
In a special addition to this year's observance, the Sabha Sabha also calls on devotees to offer special prayers for Hindu brothers and sisters suffering in Bangladesh which is a gesture of solidarity, seeking Lord Krishna’s blessings for their safety, well-being, and justice.
Krishna Janmashtami starts today and will conclude on Monday.
