The Fiji Roads Authority is advising members of the public that there is currently a restriction of movement at the Rewa Bridge in Nausori as floodwaters have continued to rise in the past hour as a result of the heavy rain.

FRA says the police are present on site to ensure there is restricted movement on both ends of the bridge.

The National Disaster Management Office are reminding the general public and all motorists that these measures have been taken to ensure the safety of commuters travelling in and out of Nausori.

They add Police and FRA will continue to monitor the situation and update the public accordingly.

The NDMO says they also received a report of a landslide along Dilkusha in Nausori last night, therefore motorists have been urged to proceed with caution and exercise vigilance while travelling on this route.

They are also encouraging the general public to use alternative routes and refrain from making any unnecessary travel into this area for their own safety.
