O’Connor to captain Queensland Reds against Waratahs this Friday
Reformed Wallabies bad boy James O'Connor has been given the captaincy role to lead the Queensland Reds in their opening match against the Waratahs in Super Rugby Australia this Friday.
Reds coach Brad Thorn has appointed O'Connor as interim captain while regular skipper Liam Wright misses much of the Super Rugby season due to injury.
The 30-year-old says he is humbled to lead the team this Friday.
Several players with links to Fiji will also be featuring for the Reds this season including Moses Sorovi, Filipo Daugunu, Ilaisa Droasese and Suliasi Vunivalu.
Mark Nawaqanitawase who also has links to Fiji will play for the Waratahs.
The Super Rugby Australia will kick-off this Friday with the Reds taking on the Waratahs at 8.45pm and the Western Force will face the Brumbies at 10.55pm.
