New Zealand will confirm their spot in the knockout stages of the ICC Cricket World Cup if they beat Sri Lanka tonight.
Australia, India and South Africa have secured a place in the knockout stage after their impressive victory over Afghanistan.
New Zealand currently occupy the remaining qualification position but Pakistan and Afghanistan could yet overtake the Black Caps.
Pakistan need to beat England in their final match on Saturday and hope for New Zealand's lose against Sri Lanka or beat England with a big margin that it maintains the black caps net run rate.
Afghanistan’s dramatic defeat by Australia in their eighth match has made it tough for them to qualify.
To qualify they must beat South Africa on Friday and hope New Zealand and Pakistan lose their final games.
If two or all three of these teams win, then Afghanistan must win by a huge margin to maintain both of those sides on net run-rate. New Zealand takes on Sri Lanka at 8.30 tonight.
