Magistrates and Criminal High Court Judges to attend workshop

Thirty five Magistrates and Criminal High Court Judges are expected to attend a three day workshop in relation to topics of no case to answer and how to handle hostile witnesses.

One of the speakers at the workshop is Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Nazhat Shameem.

Chief Registrar Magistrate Yohan Liyanage said for urgent criminal matters, the cases will be referred to the Sigatoka Magistrates Court.

Liyanage says this is one of the annual workshops for criminal matters for this year and another workshop is for civil matters.

Divisional Prosecuting Officer in Suva, Mohammed Yunnus said the criminal registry office will be open to assist in other matters.

The 3 day workshop kicks off tomorrow at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Natadola.
