Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School has created history as they have won the girls division of the 2024 Coca Cola Games based on the fijivillage medal tally where they have finished in first place with 13 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Suva Grammar School is in second place with 8 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze.

Adi Cakobau School is in third place with 3 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze.

Natabua High School and Ratu Sukuna Memorial School are tied at fourth place with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Defending boys champions, Marist Brothers High School has successfully defended the Coca Cola Games boys division title as they have finished in first place with 16 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze.

Suva Grammar School is in second place with 6 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze.

Queen Victoria School is in third place with 5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze.

MGM is in fourth place with 3 gold and 6 silver.

Back in 2022, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School Principal Sanjay Raman had said in an interview with fijivillage News that they had set the target to win the boys and girls titles in the 2025 Coca-Cola Games.

The school which had never won the 100 metres Senior Girls and Boys events created history in the Coke Games in 2022 when Waisale Inoke won the Senior Boys 100 metres while Kesaia Boletanakadavu won the Senior Girls 100 metres event.

Raman highlighted that in their long-term plan, they want to take part in all sports including rugby.

Raboiliku dedicates win to Marist family

Marist Brothers High School head coach Antonio Raboiliku has dedicated their win to the Marist family for their tremendous support after they retained the Coca-Cola Games boys’ division title with 13 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Raboiliku says he is happy for the boys’ hard work and the support from parents and the old scholars.

He says their next focus is on the upcoming Oceania Championships and the boys will also need to take a break.

He adds that he is grateful to be part of the Marist family and advises athletes that did not make it, to continue to work hard.



4×400 metres finals

Marist Brothers High School and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School both won two gold medals each in the 4×400 metres relay event in the 2024 Coca-Cola Games this afternoon.

Marist won gold in the junior and senior boys grade, while MGM won gold in the sub-junior and intermediate girls grade.

Looking at the results in the boys division, MGM High won gold in the sub-junior grade, followed by Ratu Kadavulevu School, who won silver and Marist won bronze.

Marist won gold in the junior grade, RKS settled for silver and Holy Cross College won bronze.

Natabua High School won gold in the intermediate boys grade, RKS won silver while Marist settled for bronze.

Marist won gold in the senior boys grade, while RKS and Grammar had to settle for the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Looking at results in the girls division, MGH High won gold in the sub junior grade, Suva Grammar School won silver, while Jasper Williams High School took out the bronze.

Nasesevia Secondary School won gold in the junior grade, ACS settled for silver and Holy Cross College won bronze.

MGM won gold in the intermediate girls 4×400 metres, while Taveuni schools, Bucalevu Secondary School and Holy Cross College settled for silver and bronze respectively.

In the senior grade, Natabua High School won gold in the girls division, Jasper Williams High School settled for silver and MGM High won bronze.



Vaurasi wins gold for MBHS in the intermediate boy's triple jump competition

Tyrone Vaurasi of Marist Brothers High School has won gold in the intermediate boys triple jump jumping a distance of 13.57 metres.

Vaurasi extended the medal tally for the MBHS brigade on day three of the competition.

Natabua High School Suliasi Bose won silver with a jump of 13.95 metres.

Frederico Miller of MBHS took the bronze medal with a jump of 12.74 metres.



MGM girls’ commitments result in victory at the 2024 Coca-Cola Games

The sacrifices and commitments made by the girls of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School paid off after they won the 2024 Coca-Cola Games.

This has been highlighted by MGM Head Coach, Waliki Satakala who acknowledged the athletes for their hard work in the three-day competition.

He says the welfare of the athletes is an important element for them.

MGM Vice Principal, Rajeshwar Prasad says the team started preparations in December last year and the new Year 9 students started training in January.

Prasad says he is very happy with the performance of all the athletes and has thanked them for their performance.

He says they used to practice from 5am to 7am everyday.

Prasad says sports is just as important as academic development because it teaches discipline.



Jury supports Marist runner’s disqualification in senior 400 mtrs

The Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association’s jury has respected the track referee's decision last night for disqualifying the Marist runner crossing the lane in the senior boys 400 metres final and infringing the Athletics Competition rules.

The jury made its decision earlier today regarding the Suva Grammar School protest against the 400 metres senior boys runner, Solomone Muakibau.

The letters of the decision have been sent to Marist and Grammar.

Muakibau was disqualified after winning the 400 metres senior boys final following a protest by Grammar as Muakibau was running more than 20 metres on the inside lane.

Grammar’s Vilivo Whippy who was in second place, has been awarded the gold medal.

Nakasi High School’s Ratu Ilaitia Matadradra had come third in the race.

4x100 Sub Junior Girls Gold Medalists

The MGM 4x100 metres girls relay team won gold in the final, ACS settled for silver while Jasper Williams got the bronze.

Marist took out the 4x100 metres sub junior boys final, Grammar got silver while the Fiji LDS Church team got the bronze medal.

The Grammarian 4x100 metres junior girls relay team clinched the gold medal, ACS got silver while Jasper got the bronze.

The Marist junior boys 4×100 metres team won gold, Grammar got silver while RKS got bronze.

MGM won the intermediate girls 4x100 metres gold medal, Grammar settled for silver while ACS got the bronze.

QVS won the 4x100 metres intermediate boys final, Grammar took the silver while RKS got the bronze.

ACS won the 4x100 metres senior girls gold, MGM settled for silver while Grammar took the bronze.

QVS got gold in the 4x100 metres senior boys final, Grammar got silver while RKS got the bronze.



Balata High’s Rusiate Matai wins gold in senior boys high jump

Rusiate Matai of Balata High School in Tavua has won the first gold for his school in the senior boys high jump with a jump of 2.03 metres in the 2024 Coca-Cola Games at the HFC Bank Stadium. Matai says he was aiming to break the record of 2.09 metres that was set by Antonio Rahiman 21 years ago, but unfortunately, he missed out on that.

Matai says his target now is to prepare well and to aim to level with the current record at the Oceania Competition in June.

Ratu Simione Kaiwalu of Marist Brothers High School settled for silver with a jump of 1.99 metres while Gabiriele Kavekai of Holy Cross College took the bronze with a jump of 1.91 metres.

Suva Grammar School sprinter, Sesenieli Rasoke upset the favourite MGM High School’s, Sera Nasilivata to win the sub junior girls 200 metres final.

Nasilivata was leading the charge when she fell almost 15 metres to the finish line.

Lice Kurisaru of ACS got the silver medal while Ivamere Lutumailagi of Natabua High got the bronze.

Othniel Tuvusa of Marist has bagged his second gold medal after winning the 200 metres sub junior boys final. Luke Junior of MGM took the silver while Jacob Tamainai of Grammar took the bronze.

Elizabeth Colata of MGM took out the gold medal in the junior girls 200 metres, Hephizhiba Tuimanono of Grammar got the silver while Salaseini Navo of Swami Vivekananda College settled for the bronze medal.

Jarryd Mario of Central College Lautoka won the gold medal in the 200 metres junior boys final, Vailato Qumutia of RKS got the silver while Haggai Sukanaivalu of Marist had to settle for the bronze.

MGM’s Lidia Waqairapoa took out the gold medal in the 200 metres intermediate girls, Imeri Nasali of ACS took the silver medal while Claude David of Grammar got bronze.

Vunisea Secondary School’s Setareki Saukilagi won gold after a powerful finish in the 200 metres intermediate boys final, Emosi Laqere of MGM settled for the silver medal while Joseph Andrews of RKS got the bronze.

Frances Tuva of Natabua High claimed the gold medal in the 200 metres senior girls final, Sereima Rasovasiva of Jasper Williams settled for the silver while Melania Ranadi of ACS got the bronze.

Queen Victoria School’s sprinter, Senirusi Rauqe made a statement by winning the 200 metres senior boys final, Grammar’s Semesa Caginivalu settled for the silver medal while Aisake Manna of Grammar finished with the bronze.



Ravudolo wins gold for CMF in junior girls' shot put

Eunice Ravudolo of Christian Mission Fellowship won gold in the junior girls shot put with a throw of 9.84 metres at the HFC Bank Stadium today.

Ravudolo who hails from Vanuatu and has maternal links to Vanuabalavu, Lau says she is happy because she did not make it in the discus event yesterday and she tried her utmost best to win in the shot put event today.

Ravudolo dedicated the win to her dad and late mum and attributed her success to her coaches for always standing by her and pushing her to the limits.

Livia Lomani of Adi Cakobau School got the silver with a throw of 9.42 metres, while Ro Miriama Muakalou took the bronze medal with a throw of 9.26 metres.



Grammar’s Abigal Koroi wins gold in sub junior girls long jump

Abigal Koroi of Suva Grammar School has won a gold medal in the 2024 Coca Cola Games sub-junior long jump with a jump of 4.80 metres.

Miriama Rokoua of Mahatma Gandhi High School took the silver while Mereani Sofia of Vashist Muni College settled for the bronze. Koroi says although she faced challenges during her preparation, it did not deter her focus.

Koroi says balancing school work and training was hard for her, but she utilised her time well.

She says winning a gold for herself and her school is a great achievement for her.

She also dedicated the win to her family and her coach for their support.



Nagusa wins gold for Marist in the sub-junior boys discus

Timoci Nagusa of Marist Brothers High School has won his second gold medal in the 2024 Coca Cola Games – this time in the sub-junior boy's discus with a throw of 41.82 metres.

Nagusa broke the sub-junior shot put record yesterday.

He is the son of former Fijian Drua captain, Nemani Nagusa.

Rainibogi Feresi of Queen Victoria School settled for silver with a throw of 41.33 metres.

Vamarasi Kafoa of Rotuma High School took the bronze medal with a throw of 39.34 metres.



Losalini Matea wins first gold for Nasinu Secondary

Losalini Matea of Nasinu Secondary has won the first gold for her school in the senior girls shot put with a throw of 11.25 metres.

Lanieta Nagauna of Nasikawa Vision College settled for silver and threw a distance of 11.11 metres while Karolina Maramamaivei of Ballantine Memorial School took the bronze.



800 mtrs results : MGM’s Rabaleira wins another gold in the girls division

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School athlete, Resina Rabaleira has claimed her second gold medal in the 2024 Coca Cola Games after winning the sub junior girls 800 metres final.

Vilisite Tauluva of Namosi Secondary School took the silver medal while Anna Camasei of International School Suva took the bronze medal.

Josefa Nabuka of MGM High School also claimed the gold medal in the 800 metres sub junior final.

Isaiah Tuqiri of Ratu Kadavulevu School settled for the silver medal while Soropepeli Nakasava of Queen Victoria School got the bronze medal. Emi Ratumainabou of Naitasiri Secondary won the gold medal in the junior girls 800 metres, Luisa Mole of Namosi Secondary School took the silver while Valania Vusonilewadra from Lekutu Secondary took the bronze.

Jale Raikatalau of RKS took the gold medal in the junior boys 800 metres, Amani Rakula of RKS took the silver while Ryan David of Korovuto College got the bronze.

Lilieta Buna of Thomas Baker Secondary from Navosa won the gold, Adi Ceva Lutumailagi of Natabua High claimed the silver while Naomi Galo of ACS claimed the bronze in the intermediate girls 800 metres.

Qelevuki Talaqea of Korovuto College claimed the gold medal in the 800 metres intermediate boys final, Leone Liunavanua of Dudley High School got the silver while Orisi Bukasiga of Xavier College got bronze. Naitasiri Secondary School’s Rusila Tabuyawa won the gold medal in the 800 metres senior girls final, Kuini Valebuliti of MGM High settled for the silver medal while Seruwaia Kuru of Vatukaloko Secondary got the bronze.

Abaromo Ratucove of Marist won gold in the senior boys 800 metres, Ratu Ilaitia Matadradra of Nakasi High School had to settle for silver and Samisoni Kaitu of Holy Cross College got the bronze.

The 200 metres finals get underway this hour, the 4x100 metres finals start at about 12pm and the 4x400 metres finals start at 1pm today.
