To beat a very good team like New Zealand, who has been very consistent with their performance in the HSBC SVNS World Series so far this season, is a big thing.
This was highlighted by Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s playmaker and 2-time Olympic gold medallist Jerry Tuwai after helping his side secure a close 28-26 win over NZ in the first pool match of the HSBC Madrid 7s early this morning.
Tuwai says it is very special and it shows that they are doing some smart things right and it pushes them to become better players and a good team for the next game.
He says the win also shows the determination, love and heart that they have in the team.
The 35-year-old says all teams have upgraded to a different level and are good now.
He says if you win or lose by small points, it is nothing new because all teams have developed.
Tuwai made a return to the international 7s arena this week after being out for quite some time.
He made a great impact on the team when he came on and dictated play well, helping them make a perfect comeback to claim the win.
