Investigations suggest that a 4-year-old unsupervised child was playing with matches before a four-bedroom house in Tuvu, Lautoka was destroyed in a fire yesterday morning.

NFA’s CEO, Puamau Sowane says the boy had lit the matches while playing on a mattress.

Six people are homeless after this tragic incident.

The house belonged to a 59-year-old man.

The boy was taken out of the house uninjured before the fire spread and destroyed the house.

Other family members were outside the house attending to chores and only the four-year-old boy was inside the house when the fire started.
