You can look forward to high speed internet access on Coral Coast as Telecom Fiji Limited is now replacing underground optic fiber cable between Deuba and Korolevu.

CEO, Charles Goundar says this project is part of their plan to not only replace the aged underground fiber infrastructure but also enable greater accessibility of high speed internet access.

Goundar says they have already announced a commitment of over $180 million in Fibre infrastructure over the next 5 years to ensure Fiji remains at the forefront of ICT technology.

He says Phase 1 of the plan has started along the 48km Deuba to Korolevu stretch.

Goundar adds they are also in the process of rolling out their Fibre-to-the-Home technology into residential and business areas which should cover all key central business areas in major towns and cities over the next 3 years.

He says over 5,000 homes in Suva and Lautoka are ready to be connected to Telecom’s Fibre broadband service.

Goundar says they will be connecting Ratu Latianara Secondary School and the Korovisilou Health Centre to Telecom’s Fibre broadband service once this project is complete.

TFL’s CEO says Fibre expansion will also enable mobile operators to expand their services into other areas and offer improved services in areas where they might be facing challenges due to limited capacity on their microwave transmission links.
