India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is out of the third Test match against England because of a family emergency.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India says the health and well-being of the players and their loved ones are of utmost importance to them.
Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Rajiv Shukla had posted on X that Ashwin had to rush to Chennai to be with his mother.
The 37-year-old on Friday became the 9th man to reach 500 Test wickets.
If he does not return to the Test, India will not be allowed to replace his batting or bowling but will be permitted a substitute fielder.
The five-match series is currently level at 1-1.
India is already without star batter Virat Kohli after he withdrew from the series for personal reasons.
