A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force mainly for the Northern Division, interior and parts of Viti Levu, Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

The Nadi Weather Office says a strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas of Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Southern Bua, Yasawa, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands of Lomaiviti and Lau group.

They say a trough of low pressure lies to the North of Fiji as associated cloud and rain is expected to affect the Northern parts of the group.

The weather office says the trough is expected to slowly drift south and affect the Eastern parts of the country from later today.

They also say the trough is expected to clear by Tuesday as there will be afternoon and evening showers over the weekend.
