Former Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber has been appointed as the Director of Rugby for Shogun Rugby Football Club (formerly known as Samurai Rugby Club) for the 2024 season.
The Club says Baber has been a member of the Shogun family for several years but will now direct, consult and guide their extremely impressive team of Shogun Coaches.
They say as part of his role, he will attend tournaments as part of the on-pitch coaching team and also share his extensive knowledge of the game with Shogun Rugby players and crew.
Shogun Rugby is extremely fortunate to have one of the most successful 7s coaches of all time as their Director of Men’s Rugby.
Baber took over the coaching role for the Fiji Men’s 7s team in 2016 after their gold medal win at the Rio Olympics.
He is best known for coaching and leading the Fiji 7s team to win their second gold medal in rugby sevens at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Baber coached Fiji to their fourth World Sevens Series title and has won the most tournaments in the World Series as a coach for Fiji.
