FijiFirst MP, Vijendra Prakash has resigned from parliament as he wants to concentrate on his FICAC case and he also wants to protect the integrity of the FijiFirst.

Prakash says the case is also causing a lot of stress for him and it is better he stays out of parliament.

Prakash says he was not asked to resign by anyone and it is a decision he has made after speaking to his family.

He says if given the chance, he will contest the 2022 general elections for the FijiFirst.

Prakash, who is also the National Secretary of the Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha and President of Rewa Sanatan, has tabled the issue to both councils to make the decision after he was charged by FICAC.

He says Rewa Sanatan has asked him to continue while the Sanatan Sabha is yet to make the decision.

Vijendra Prakash was charged with allegedly claiming for parliamentary allowances he was not entitled to. He is alleged to have falsely stated that his permanent place of residence was in Waidracia, Vunidawa, Nabuni, Naluwai, Naitasiri and allegedly obtained $33,670.00 between August 2019 and March 2020.

FijiFirst candidate, Virendra Lal is next in line to fill the parliamentary seat left vacant by Prakash. FijiFirst General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is yet to comment.
