The Fiji Taxi Operators Association has welcomed the extension of taxi permits renewal time frame from 28 days to 60 days as announced by the Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport.

General Secretary, Rishi Ram says taxi operators will get more time to gather the requirements to renew permits.

Ram is also urging the Ministry to look into the matter where some taxi operators permit has expired for genuine reasons.

He says some operators taxi permit expired because some have either lost it and some must have misplaced it.

He also adds there is an oversupply of taxi permits.
