The Fiji 21 and Under side were thumped by Aotearoa Maori 23-59 in their first match at the FNU Nasinu gym.
Netball Fiji CEO, Vivian Coster says this is a good opportunity and an eye opener for the girls to play against an international team.
Foster says it is also an opportunity to continue to fight for a position in the final team for the Netball World Youth Cup in 2025.
Maori Coach Ngarama Milner-Olsen says the physicality of the game hit differently when they play Fiji which boosted the girls to come out strong at the end.
Olsen says both sides are occupied by young ladies and it is vital to develop them to an international standard.
This is the first of a 3 game series between the sides with the next game at 6.30pm Monday at the same venue.
