A farmer has thanked the Government for maintaining the $85 per tonne guaranteed price for sugar and has asked Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum if the price of fertilizer can continue to be subsidised.
Speaking at the public consultation for the Revised National Budget at Labasa Civic Centre, the farmer told the Attorney General that the price of weedicide has also increased.
He says they have had to pay a little bit more after Tropical Cyclone Yasa.
The farmer also asked if more money could be allocated to the Ministry of Waterways to mitigate flooding.
Sayed-Khaiyum told the farmer that they will take his suggestions on board.
