The Fiji Roads Authority has completed the repairs of the two footbridges in Dibulu and Muanikoso in Narere, Nasinu.
These two crossings are not FRA assets and are old pipe‑bridges which were converted by locals into footbridges due to the convenience of available access.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had asked the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to direct the FRA to urgently repair the two footbridges that provided essential access for these communities.
Community spokesman Mateo Taridovu says they had been using these footbridges for the past 40 years and they are very thankful the Government has responded to their request.
FRA General Manager Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes says they have upgraded both the footbridges by re‑decking it with new timber and bracing boards, this also includes a rope guide rail to assist the elderly and children safely.
