Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coach Mick Byrne has revealed that whatever Drua players will be available to play for the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s for the Olympics, will be released to play.

This comes after questions were raised if the Drua players will be released for national duties if approached by our national 7s coach.

Byrne says he has had a few meetings in that area with former coach Ben Gollings about having some of the Drua players part of the team for the Olympics this year.

He says there is a current plan in place and the national 7s coach is welcome to the Drua training sessions any time to observe the players.

He adds this also applies to the Fiji Water Flying Fijians if they need more Drua players for national duties, they will be available.

Meanwhile, the Fijian Drua have turned their focus to this week’s Shop N Save round 4 clash against the Chiefs in Waikato this weekend.

The Drua will be looking to back up their win against the Crusaders last week at home while the Chiefs will be out to redeem themselves after a shocking 25-19 loss to the Reds.

The Drua will play the Chiefs at 6.30pm this Saturday at the FMG Stadium. In other matches this weekend, the Crusaders will host the Hurricanes at 6.05pm Friday, the Rebels will play the Reds at 8.35pm Friday, Western Force will take on Moana Pasifika at 11pm Friday, the Highlanders will host the Brumbies at 3.35pm Saturday and the Waratahs will play the Blues 8.35pm Saturday.
