The US Congress reconvened today to continue counting the electoral votes and affirming President-elect Joe Biden's victory after violent supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol.
The riots, which left at least one woman dead, had interrupted debate in both chambers around a Republican objection to the results in Arizona.
That objection failed in the Senate by a lopsided vote of 93-6.
It was an unforgettable day in Washington as lawmakers were forced to pause the official count of the Electoral College votes and flee when Trump's followers stormed the building.
Multiple officers have been injured with at least one transported to the hospital.
Photos posted by CNN showed there was an armed standoff at the House front door, and police officers had their guns drawn at someone who is trying to reach the front door.
