Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, a call is being made to end violence against women and girls in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says the government has to constantly refine policies and look at ways in which some of the concerns such as violence against women can be addressed.

While highlighting the National Action to Prevent Violence Against All Women and Girls, Professor Prasad says there are a number of programs within the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection that aims to enhance various aspects of women empowerment and address the concerns.

He further says Australia provides a lot of support outside of the government to the Fiji Women's Crisis Centre, which has played a very important role in Fiji over the many years.

The Deputy Prime Minister also acknowledged FWCC Coordinator Shamima Ali for her leadership.
