Fiji Water Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne has rated new Flying Fijians outside back and Olympics silver medallist Ponipate Loganimasi highly saying that he has a bright future ahead of him in the 15s code.
Following Loganimasi’s impressive debut against Japan in the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup final over the weekend, Byrne says Loganimasi was recommended by centre Iosefo Masi to be given a chance after winger Selestino Ravutaumada was ruled out due to injury.
Byrne says he was impressed with how well Loganimasi played on his debut and scored two tries as well which tops it off.
When asked about Loganimasi’s size, Byrne says he is just the perfect size for his position and being the young player that he is, he just has to work on a few things to get his frame right.
Byrne says he is looking forward to working on developing Loganimasi in the 15s code.
Meanwhile, the Flying Fijians are back in the country and are on a short break before they start their preparation for the upcoming November test matches against Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
