HSBC Cape Town 7s hosts the Blitzboks have suffered a major setback ahead of their home tournament after star rover Ryan Oosthuizen was ruled out following a concussion he sustained in Dubai last weekend.

Coach Philip Snyman is expected to name the replacement for Oosthuizen tomorrow, but he did add four players to the squad that will prepare for this weekend’s showdown at Cape Town Stadium.

The four players were part of the Springbok Sevens ‘A’ squad that won the tournament under the Shogun banner in Dubai last weekend.

Oosthuizen now joins a list of experienced players such as Selvyn Davids and Ronald Brownwill who have been ruled out due to injuries and add more pressure on the other regulars in the squad.

The Blitzboks are in Pool C alongside Argentina and Ireland.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s side is in Pool A alongside Great Britain and Uruguay.

The Cape Town 7s will kick off this Saturday.
