There have been millions of unsuccessful cyber attacks targeted towards the ANZ network in a month to get access to the system however, via a strong security system they have managed to decline those access.
The ANZ New Zealand Head of Information, Eli Hirschauge highlighted this while discussing the growing cyber threats across the region at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
He says they are tackling this issue by reviewing who can access the system daily, automatic backup system, alerting staff about the ‘phishing attacks’ and providing staff with training on this. Meanwhile the ANZ Fiji Country Head, Rabih Yazbek says it is important to talk about this especially when we all are becoming more digitally focused and scammers are making some email addresses that look official, although they are not from the official email account of the bank.
The ANZ Country Head is urging customers to be extra diligent if they receive an email that asks them to verify their Customer Registration Number, username, password, or PIN; asks them to fill out their details in exchange for a prize; asks them to click on a link or open an attachment. He says they have heard about some people falling for the email scam where they have clicked on the link that promises prizes while they have also reported some fraud cases to police.
Yazbek further says this is why it is so important to focus on educating staff and customers, making sure they are aware of the type of scams taking place.
He adds that they will be having an in-person workshop and also a series of online workshops regarding this matter.
