A 4 year old boy dies due to COVID-19

A 4 year old boy from the Central Division has lost his life due to COVID-19.

Permanent Secretary of Health Dr James Fong says the boy was admitted to the CWM Hospital due to respiratory distress and died last Wednesday.

He says the boy died a few hours later, despite the best efforts put in by the attending clinicians to save him.

He did not belong to the vaccine-eligible group and he was not vaccinated.

Since the last update, 37 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded.

There are 130 active cases.

12 new cases were recorded on Friday, 4 cases on Saturday, 1 case on Sunday and 20 cases in the last 24 hours ending 8am yesterday.

10 cases were recorded in the Central Division, 27 cases in the Western Division with no cases in the Northern and Eastern Divisions.

The national 7-day rolling average of cases as of Thursday is 12 daily cases.
