Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete has confirmed there are six cases of typhoid in Vanua Levu and they are working with the patients and their communities to keep this curtailed.
Dr Waqainabete says there were 3 cases recorded before the cyclone and now there are 6 in total where one of the suspected causes is a known carrier from Viti Levu.
The Minister confirms there are no new cases after the cyclone. Waqainabete says as long as people abide and not associate with the community at large with mass gatherings and complete their medicines, then this will stop the spread of the disease.
He says comprehensive screening has shown there are no other cases of Leptospirosis, Typhoid, Dengue and Diarrhoea.
