335 nurse interns will begin an 18-month training program, a crucial step in their professional development.
The interns are currently attending a one-week induction course at Harbour Point before beginning their practical training. Acting Chief Medical Advisor, Dr. Luisa Cikamatana Rauto, emphasized that Fiji, like many other nations, recognizes the vital role of a well-trained nursing workforce.
Dr. Rauto says that nursing is not just a profession but a calling, driven by a deep commitment to serving individuals with dignity and compassion while upholding the highest ethical and professional standards. She says being a nurse requires unwavering dedication, and when duty calls, one must be ready to serve—regardless of personal beliefs, gender or marital status.
Rauto adds the selection of these interns highlights their potential to make significant contributions to the health sector.
During the 18-month program, the interns will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in both clinical and public health settings.
