The newly constructed foot‑crossing for the village of Naisogovau in Tailevu has been commissioned.
Close to 300 villagers will benefit from the $3,867 worth project.
Officiating at the commissioning, Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development Dr. Mahendra Reddy says children will be able to access safe and proper crossings when going to school and villagers will have proper access to their own farms which will in turn improve livelihoods.
He says gone are the days where villagers used coconut trunks to cross from the other side of the village to the main road.
Reddy reassured the villagers that Government will continue to provide assistance to all Fijians especially those that are living in rural and maritime areas with similar projects.
