Solar home system being installed

All 2,600 households located in rural areas within the four divisions who applied for new solar home systems have all been catered for as budgeted in the 2017‑2018 national budget.

This was confirmed today in parliament by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum when asked by SODELPA MP Mere Samisoni whether all 2,600 households have all been catered for.

When further asked by SODELPA MP Salote Radrodro when will the villagers affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston be provided with lighting, Sayed-Khaiyum says whenever there was solar installed by government, there is re-engineering separate budget allocation for those home to be connected to solar panels again.

He says all the areas that they are working on are in clusters where NGO’s comes through a committee that is chaired by government when that want to assist with the solar panels.
