2-year-8-month-old girl found dead in a 44-gallon drum in Valelevu

A 2-year-8-month-old girl has died after she was found floating in a 44-gallon drum in a settlement in Valelevu.

Police say the mother of the child was washing clothes in the drum that was cut in half and filled with water.

She had left her child alone as she went to the washroom.

They say the girl was rushed to the Valelevu Health Centre and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations continue.
