16 arrested yesterday for being in possession of illicit drugs

16 people were arrested yesterday for being in possession of illicit drugs.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO)Livai Driu says seven were arrested in the Central Division, which included the two men that came out of the shipping vessel at Mua-i-Walu.

Driu says six were arrested in the Southern Division, with the Eastern Division recording an arrest, while two arrests were made in the Northern Division.

He says Police continue to search for illicit drugs during this festive session Operations.

ACPO Driu says arrests are done every day, and they continue to charge people and produce them in court for carrying illicit drugs, adding that the Fiji Police Force will continue to disrupt the drug trade as supplies to cater for this festive season are expected to arrive.

He adds that while the Christmas Eve operations went smoothly, the Fiji Police Force will continue to lobby for everyone's safety and security.
